Profile of Kenton Synagogue Community 2019

Our community has just completed a busy year of celebratory events for our 70th Anniversary. Both current and ex-members participated as we are all part of Kenton's history.

As we settle into our 71st year, we will continue to provide all the activities below:

  • regular daily minyanim
  • a weekly Shabbat Kodesh programme
  • weekly mixed learning sessions
  • a men's Gemarrah shiur
  • our Rabbi's early Shabbat morning shiur
  • summer Shabbat afternoon learning sessions for women
  • regular social activities
  • the Kenton Funnies Club [KFC]
  • Kenton Friends of Israel
  • women's weekly simcha and Israeli dancing
  • a book club
  • Rosh Chodesh Songsters group [Ladies only]
  • a music group
  • a literary society
  • a working force for our Shul garden
  • groups working for different charities
  • events to celebrate the festivals and historic occasions, including Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Yom Yerushalayim, Yom Hashoah, and Holocaust Memorial Day
  • Shabbaton lunches, summer seudot and melaveh malkas

Main working Groups:

  • An active and productive Ladies Guild.
  • 'Care in Kenton' is our active welfare group, with 'Link' people who make regular contact with everyone over 60.
  • ReJEWvenate is a large committee which organises most of the social events and works on ideas for raising our profile.
  • 'KKW5 Adult Learning' is unique as it incorporates five synagogues: Kenton, Kingsbury and Wembley United Synagogues together with Wembley Sephardi David Ishag Synagogue, and the Wembley Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi Synagogue. It arranges mid-week termly programmes.
  • A strong volunteer security team

We aim to make full use of our building. As well as our own activities, we host a weekly connect@Kenton club run by Jewish Care.

There is certainly something for everyone.

All our activities encompass our mission statement:

'As a community we are committed to provide every Jew with a range of Jewish experiences, personal support and opportunities for spiritual development, all within the framework of Torah and halacha.'
